In one of our favorite Seinfeld episodes, out-of-work George Costanza tells the unemployment office that he’s this close to getting a sales position with fictitious latex manufacturer Vandelay Industries; he then returns to Jerry’s place to enlist the gang’s help with the ruse. Though references to Vandelay recur throughout Seinfeld’s long run, it’s George’s pants-around-ankles sprint out of the john reminding Kramer to “Say Vandelay! Say Vandelay!” when the unemployment office calls that we love most.
